Does Your IPad Do What You Want?

For anyone who has ever owned an iPad, it"s no surprise that this device is one of the most technological devices of the past several years. Educating yourself can help you take advantage of everything it has to offer. Keep reading for some useful advice on how to use your iPad efficiently.

Your battery won"t last long if you"re using the iPad a lot. You can help your battery charge last longer by adjusting the brightness of the screen. You will discover that the brightest settings are rarely necessary.

VPN networks allow for access to remote servers. You can use a VPC on your iPad by going to Settings, Network, and then turning on the VPN. You will be asked to provide a server address and a username. If you aren"t sure about the address of the server, the network administrator can help you.

Currently Active

Know which apps are running on your iPad. Most of the time, an application can remain open while you surf the Internet or attend to other business. If you want to know which apps are currently active, all you need to do quickly tap the home button two times in succession. The lower bar will display the currently active apps and some brief information. When you are finished with this area, swipe down and the bar will be gone.

If you are sick and tired of being notified of a local Wi-Fi connection, change your settings. Go to Settings and opt for the Ask to Join Network option. Choose that and you won"t be bothered with incoming invites.

You can change your email settings to preview more of your email. Go to your settings, tap on mail and change the preview settings. Increase the number of lines listed. Now you can see more of each email in your inbox, speeding up the skimming process.

Do you not like having Google set as the default search engine? If so, there is a way for you to change this. Simply navigate to Settings, Safari, and then Search Engine. You will have the option of changing your search engine to Bing or Yahoo if you find them to be more preferable than Google.

Do you want the option of finding your own iPad if you have lost it? Go to Settings, then iCloud. Type your Apple ID in the space, and look for "Find My iPad" at the bottom of your screen, then turn it on. That way, if you lose your iPad, you simply have to go to iCloud.com.

You can quickly mute the iPad. In its first incarnation, the iPad lacked a specific mute button. When the 4.3 came out they did add the ability to mute using the lock switch to silence the iPad. To do a quick mute on your iPad now, press and hold down your volume-down button.

Mature Content

You can set your iPad to block mature content if your child will be using it. Under the settings function, simply limit the mature content that can be viewed. It is possible to block pornography, "R" rated movies and pages with bad words on them.

There is a quick way to access your apps that are running. Just double-tap the home button, and you will see them on the bottom of the screen. Use this to avoid scrolling around to find what you need.

To protect your battery"s life, set the brightness to auto brightness. This feature senses the ambient light in the room and adjusts the backlight to suit your surroundings. This saves a great deal of battery life and extends the length of time you can use your iPad before needing to recharge its battery. This setting can be located in the section labeled "Brightness & Wallpaper".

When you take photographs, you may grasp the sides of the iPad to hold it. Doing so will make the shutter button move around, causing wobbly pictures. Try using the lock for orientation. This allows the shutter button to easily be reached with your thumb. After you snap your photo, use your editor feature to shift your images or videos.

To help extend your iPad"s battery life turn down the screen"s brightness. This is really important if you expect anything important such as a message or email. Just press Home twice and choose the "sun" icon.

Just tap twice on the home icon to see what apps are running. Click on the app you want to switch to and you"ll be there in a snap. Go back to another the same way.

Street View

Street View is available on the iPad"s Google Maps app. Search and a red pin will show up on your map. You should then tap on the pin and select the red and white icon of a person that appears and the Street View feature will load.

If you"ve ever seen a nonverbal autistic use an iPad to communicate when nothing else would work, you know how revolutionary this device is. For anyone interested in making this device part of their daily life, some time spent learning about its true potential is in order.
